Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of May 6
In Ukraine, there were 125 clashes on the front line over the past day. The enemy is pressing the Armed Forces in three directions in the Donetsk region, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian attacks
Overall, the enemy launched 2 missiles and 120 aviation strikes and conducted 89 shelling attacks with reactive volley fire systems on our troops' positions and civilian areas. Unfortunately, there are casualties and injuries among the civilian population as a result of Russian attacks. Several high-rise buildings and other objects of civilian infrastructure have been destroyed and damaged.
During the night, the Russian army once again attacked Ukraine, using 13 UAVs of the Shahed type. The Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed 12 of these strike UAVs.
During the past day, populated areas were subjected to aviation strikes in:
- Hremiach, Chernihiv region;
- Kharkiv, Synkivka, Vesele, Bilyi Kolodiaz, Doroshivka in the Kharkiv region;
- Spirne, Dyliivka, Vovche, Novosadove, Volodymyrivka, Kalynove, Paraskoviivka, Vozdvyzhenka, Lysychne, Semenivka, Illinka, Novoselivka Persha, Karlivka, Umanske, Novooleksandrivka, Prohres, Halytsynivka, Yevhenivka, Yelyzavetivka, Urozhaine, and Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region;
- Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region;
- Krynyky in the Kherson region.
More than 120 populated areas in the Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions were under artillery fire.
Frontline situation
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation remains relatively unchanged.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy maintains military presence in border areas, conducts sabotage activities to prevent the transfer of our troops to threatening directions, and increases the density of mine-explosive barriers along the state border.
In the Kupiansk direction, our defenders repelled 14 attacks in the areas of the settlements of Synkivka, Pishchane, Berestove in the Kharkiv region, and Stelmakhivka in the Luhansk region.
In the Lyman direction, the defense forces repelled 6 attacks on positions near the settlements of Nevske in the Luhansk region, and Novosadove and Torske in the Donetsk region.
In the Bakhmut direction, our troops repelled 36 attacks in the areas of the settlements of Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region, and Verkhniokamianske, Spirne, Klishchiivka, Viyimka, Novyi, Rozdolivka, Ivanivske, and Andriivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Avdiivka direction, defenders repelled 31 attacks in the areas of the settlements of Novooleksandrivka, Novopokrovka, Umanske, Yasnobrodivka, and Netailove in the Donetsk region.
In the Novopavlivka direction, the military continued to hold back the enemy in the areas of the settlements of Kostiantynivka, Krasnohorivka, Vodiane, and Urozhaine in the Donetsk region, where the enemy tried 27 times to break through the defense of our troops.
In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy attacked the positions of our defenders near Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region and Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region 6 times.
In the Kherson direction, the enemy is not giving up on the intention to drive our units out of the bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro River. Thus, during the past day, the Russian army made 3 unsuccessful attacks on the positions of our troops.
Enemy losses
During the past day, the air force of the Defense Forces struck 13 areas of personnel concentration and 4 air defense missile systems of the enemy.
Missile troops units inflicted strikes on 1 area of personnel concentration, 3 radar stations, 2 air defense systems, 2 artillery systems, and 3 other important enemy targets.
During the night, the Russian army attacked Sumy with Shahed drones. There were disruptions in electricity and water supply in the city. After the strikes in the Sumy region, problems with electricity also arose in Kharkiv.
Over the past day, the Defense Forces have expanded their positions in Krynyky, while the Russian army has advanced near Kupiansk.
