Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of May 4

Over the last day on May 4, 74 combat engagements were registered in the frontline. Most enemy attacks were repelled in the Avdiivka sector, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In total, the enemy launched 5 missile and 56 air strikes over the last day, firing 53 times from multiple launch rocket systems at Ukrainian troops' positions and localities.
Situation at the frontlines
The operational situation in the Volyn and Polissia directions has not changed significantly. No signs of the formation of enemy offensive groups were detected.
On the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shells settlements from the territory of the Russian Federation, and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine.
It carried out air strikes near the settlements of Krasnyi Khutir in the Chernihiv region; Luhivka in the Sumy region; Kharkiv, Slobozhanske, Vesele, Cherkaski Tyshky in the Kharkiv region. More than 20 localities came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Myropilske, Velyka Pysarivka, Lisne, Romashkove in the Sumy region; Kozacha Lopan, Strilecha, Hatyshche in the Kharkiv region.
In the Kupiansk direction, our soldiers repelled 8 attacks in the vicinity of Pishchane and Kyslivka in the Kharkiv region; Stelmakhivka and Berestove in the Luhansk region. About 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire, including Synkivka, Ivanivka, Kotlyarivka in Kharkiv region.
In the Lyman direction, the Defense Forces repelled 7 enemy attacks in the areas of Serebryanske forestry in the Luhansk region and Terny in the Donetsk region. The enemy launched air strikes near Novosadove and Ivanivka in the Donetsk region.
Artillery and mortar shelling affected more than 10 localities, including Nevske in Luhansk region; Terny, Yampolivka, Torske in Donetsk region.
In the Bakhmut direction, our troops repelled 10 attacks in the areas of Bilohorivka, Luhansk region; Novyi, Klishchiivka, Rozdolivka, south of Ivanivske, Donetsk region, where the enemy was trying to improve its tactical position.
The enemy conducted air strikes near the settlements of Spirne and Druzhba in the Donetsk region. More than 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire, including Rozdolivka, Kalynivka and Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region.
In the Avdiivka direction, our defenders repelled 18 attacks in the areas of Novooleksandrivka, Sokil, Novopokrovske and Umanske in the Donetsk region, where the enemy, supported by aviation, tried to force our units out of their positions.
The enemy also launched air strikes near the settlements of Tarasivka and Novoselivka Persha in the Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Sokil, Novopokrovske, and Umanske in the Donetsk region.
In the Novopavlivka direction, the Defense Forces continue to hold back the enemy in the areas of Heorhiivka, Paraskoviivka and Urozhayne in the Donetsk region, where the enemy, with the support of aviation, tried to break through the defense of our troops 10 times.
The enemy launched air strikes near the towns of Kostiantynivka, Vodiane and Urozhayne in the Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements, including Heorhiivka, Kostiantynivka, Paraskoviivka in the Donetsk region, came under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy, with the support of aviation, attacked the positions of our defenders 5 times in the area south of Novodarivka, Staromayorske in the Donetsk region and Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region.
The enemy conducted air strikes near the settlements of Staromayorske in the Donetsk region; Orikhiv and Preobrazhenka in the Zaporizhzhia region. About 20 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Poltavka, Bilohirya, Robotyne, Lobkove in the Zaporizhzhia region.
In the Kherson direction, the enemy does not abandon its intention to push our units out of their footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro. Thus, during the day, with the support of aviation, he carried out 9 unsuccessful attacks on the positions of our troops near the village of Krynky, Kherson region.
The enemy conducted an air strike near the town of Beryslav in the Kherson region. About 20 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Mykolayivka, Lvove, Novotiahynka, and Poniativka in the Kherson region.
Strikes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces
Over the course of the day, the aviation of the Defense Forces struck 7 areas of personnel concentration, 3 control points, 2 anti-aircraft missile systems and 1 ammunition depot of the enemy. Ukrainian air defense forces also destroyed 1 Kh-59/69 guided missile.
Missile troops destroyed 1 control center, 1 area of personnel concentration, 1 radar station and 1 other important enemy object.
Over the past day, the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed more than 1,000 Russian occupants at the front, and the total losses of the Russian army have already amounted to 473 thousand soldiers.
