Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of April 4

There have been 57 clashes on the front line; Ukrainian soldiers repelled Russian attacks near Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region and damaged two enemy air defense systems, according to data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian shelling of Ukraine
During the past day, there were 57 clashes recorded. Overall, the enemy conducted 2 missile strikes and 61 airstrikes, along with 49 shelling attacks from rocket artillery systems targeting our troops' positions and civilian areas.
Unfortunately, due to Russian terrorist attacks, there are casualties and injuries among the civilian population. Multi-story buildings, private homes, and other infrastructure objects have been destroyed and damaged.
Situation at frontlines
In the Volyn and Polissia direction, the operational situation remains unchanged, with no significant changes observed in the formation of enemy offensive groupings.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske direction, the adversary maintains military presence in border areas, conducts sabotage-reconnaissance activities, shells populated areas from the territory of the Russian Federation, and increases the density of mine-explosive barriers along the state border of Ukraine.
The enemy conducted aerial strikes in the vicinity of populated areas in Volfyne of the Sumy region and Ogirtseve of the Kharkiv region. About 20 populated areas were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar shelling, including Popivka in the Chernihiv region, Bachivsk, and Ulanove in the Sumy region.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy did not engage in offensive (assault) actions. Approximately 15 populated areas, including Synkivka, Stepova Novoselivka, and Kotliarivka in the Kharkiv region, came under artillery and mortar fire
In the Lyman direction, our troops repelled 4 enemy attacks in the area of Terny and Yampolivka populated areas in the Donetsk region, where the enemy, supported by aviation, attempted to breach the defense of our forces.
Over 10 populated areas, including Nevske in the Luhansk region and Terny, Yampolivka, and Torske in the Donetsk region, were affected by artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Bakhmut direction, our troops repelled over 20 attacks in the areas of Bilohorivka, Verkhniokamianka in the Luhansk region; Spirne, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, Stupochky, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka in the Donetsk region, where the enemy, supported by aviation, attempted to improve their tactical position.
The enemy also conducted aerial strikes in the area of the populated settlement of Druzhba in the Donetsk region. Over 10 populated areas, including Bohdanivka, Kalynivka, and Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region, came under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Avdiivka direction, our defenders repelled 2 attacks in the areas of Pervomaiske and Nevelske in the Donetsk region, where the enemy attempted to dislodge our units from occupied positions. The enemy conducted aerial strikes in the areas of populated settlements such as Oleksandrivka, Ocheretyne, Keramik, Novobakhmutivka, and Berdychivka in the Donetsk region.
Around 10 populated areas, including Novokalynove, Novobakhmutivka, Semenivka, and Nevelske in the Donetsk region, were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Novopavlivka direction, Defense Forces continue to restrain the enemy in the areas of populated settlements such as Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Kostiantynivka, Novomykhailivka, Velyka Novosilka, and Urozhaine, where the enemy, supported by aviation, attempted to breach our forces' defense 19 times.
Additionally, the enemy conducted aerial strikes in the area of the populated settlement of Volodymyrivka in the Donetsk region. Over 10 populated areas, including Heorhiivka, Paraskeviiivka, Kostiantynivka, and Vuhledar in the Donetsk region, came under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Orikhiv direction, throughout the day, the enemy, supported by aviation, made 3 unsuccessful attempts to attack the positions of our troops in the areas of the populated settlement of Staramaiorske in the Donetsk region and northwest of Verbove in the Zaporizhzhia region.
Additionally, aerial strikes were carried out in the area of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region. Around 20 populated areas, including Poltavka, Malynivka, Chervone, and Shcherbaky in the Zaporizhzhia region, were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Kherson direction, the enemy persists in its intention to dislodge our units from the bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro River. During the day, 5 attacks were carried out on the positions of our troops in the area of the populated settlement of Krynky in the Kherson region.
Over 10 populated areas, including Zolota Balka, Kizomys, and Antonivka in the Kherson region, came under artillery and mortar fire.
Russian losses
Missile troops units struck 1 concentration area of personnel, armaments, and military equipment, 2 artillery systems, 1 radar station, 1 EW station, and 2 enemy air defense systems.
It's worth noting that the total number of losses in the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion exceeds 445,000 soldiers.
