Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of March 22

There have been 57 skirmishes on the battlefield, with Ukrainian soldiers repelling attacks in the area of Bilohorivka, the Luhansk region, and damaging one of the enemy's anti-aircraft defense systems, according to data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian shelling
During the day, 57 skirmishes were recorded. In total, the enemy launched 87 rocket strikes and 110 airstrikes, and carried out 39 shelling attacks from multiple rocket launcher systems on our troops' positions and civilian areas.
Today, the enemy launched the most significant attack in recent times, with 63 UAVs and 88 missiles of various types launched during a combined assault. As a result, several regions experienced problems with power supply, as the enemy deliberately targeted energy facilities in our country.
Unfortunately, there are many casualties among the civilian population. Numerous private and multi-story buildings have been destroyed or damaged, and civilian infrastructure objects have been affected. Efforts to mitigate the consequences of the terrorist attack are ongoing.
Frontline situation
On the Volyn and Polissia fronts, there have been no significant changes in the operational situation. There are no signs of the enemy forming offensive groups.
On the Siversk and Slobozhanske fronts, the enemy maintains military presence in border areas, conducts sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shells populated areas from the territory of the Russian Federation, and increases the density of mine-explosive barriers along the Ukrainian state border. The enemy carried out airstrikes in the areas of Semenivka in the Chernihiv region; Neskuchne, Oleksandrivka, Druzhba in Sumy region; Odradne, Kolodyzne in the Kharkiv region.
Over 20 populated areas were shelled by enemy artillery and mortars, including Huta-Studenetska, Bleshnia, Listivchyne, Karpovychi in the Chernihiv region; Boyaro-Lezhachi, Bilopillia, Kyndrativka, Zapsillia, Myropillia, Popivka, Dmytrivka in the Sumy region; Kozacha Lopan, Vovchansk, Krasne, Neskuchne in the Kharkiv region.
On the Kupiansk front, with aviation support, the enemy made three unsuccessful attempts to storm the positions of the Defense Forces in the areas of populated settlements Synkivka, Tabaiivka, Berestove in the Kharkiv region. Airstrikes were conducted in the areas of Petropavlivka, Kotliarivka in the Kharkiv region.
About 10 populated areas came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Holubivka, Synkivka, and Stepova Novoselivka in the Kharkiv region.
On the Lyman front, our troops repelled 5 enemy attacks in the areas of Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region and Svirne in the Donetsk region, where the enemy, with aviation support, attempted to break through the defense of our troops.
More than 10 populated areas were affected by enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Makiivka, Nevske, Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region and Terny, Yampolivka, Torske, Serebrianka in the Donetsk region.
On the Bakhmut front, our troops repelled 2 enemy attacks in the area of the populated settlement Klishiivka in the Donetsk region. The enemy conducted airstrikes in the areas of Chasiv Yar, and Oleksandro-Shultine in the Donetsk region.
Close to 10 populated areas came under artillery and mortar fire, including Bohdanivka, Chasiv Yar, Klishiivka, and Andriivka in the Donetsk region.
On the Avdiivka front, our defenders repelled nearly 10 enemy attacks in the areas of Berdychiv, Tonenke, Pervomaiske, Nevelske in the Donetsk region. The enemy conducted airstrikes in the areas of Ocheretine, Novobakhmutivka, Semenivka, Karlivka in the Donetsk region.
About 20 populated areas were shelled by enemy artillery and mortars, including Novobakhmutivka, Berdychiv, Semenivka, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske in the Donetsk region.
On the Novopavlivka front, Defense Forces continue to hold back the enemy in the areas of populated settlements Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Novomykhailivka, Vodiane, Urozhaine, where the enemy, with aviation support, attempted over 20 times to break through our troops' defense. The enemy conducted airstrikes in the areas of Kostiantynivka, and Vuhledar in the Donetsk region.
About 15 populated areas came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Novobakhmutivka, Berdychiv, Semenivka, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske in the Donetsk region.
On the Orikhiv front, the enemy conducted 7 attacks, with aviation support, in the areas of populated settlements Staromaiorkse in the Donetsk region and Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region.
About 15 populated areas were affected by artillery and mortar fire, including Poltavka, Malynivka, Charivne, Bilohirya, Novodanilivka, and Piatykhatky in the Zaporizhzhia region.
On the Kherson front, during the day, the enemy did not conduct offensive actions. Artillery and mortar fire hit the cities of Kherson and Burhunka, Tiahynka, Tokariivka, Dniprovka, Kyzomys, and Stanislav in the Kherson region.
Enemy losses
During the day, Defense Forces aviation struck 13 areas of enemy personnel concentration, armament, and military equipment.
Missile troops units targeted 2 areas of enemy personnel concentration, 1 anti-aircraft defense system, and 4 important enemy objects.
The total number of losses of the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion is 434,710 military personnel.
