Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of March 20

Ukrainian forces repelled 29 enemy attacks in the Novopavlivka direction, holding their positions and repulsing assaults by occupying forces in the Kherson direction. Missile forces struck an enemy ground control point with drones, according to the General Staff of Ukraine.
Russian shelling
During the past day, there have been 80 combat engagements. Overall, the enemy has carried out 4 missile strikes and 86 aerial attacks, as well as 114 shelling attacks using rocket artillery on the positions of our troops and civilian settlements.
Unfortunately, as a result of Russian terrorist attacks, there are casualties and injuries among the civilian population.
Aerial strikes hit:
- Velyka Lukashivka, Bilopillia, Sumy region;
- Kozacha Lopan, Mokra Rokytna, Vesele, and Izbytske, Kharkiv region;
- Serebrianske Forestry Area and Bilohorivka, Luhansk region;
- Rozdolivka, Vesele, Kostiantynivka, Ocheretyne, Tonenke, Pobieda, Novomykhailivka, Novoselivka Persha, Umanske, and Staromaiorske, Donetsk region;
- Antonivka, Kherson region.
Approximately 150 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions were under artillery fire.
Frontline situation
In the Volyn and Polissya directions, the operational situation remains relatively unchanged.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy maintains military presence in border areas, conducts sabotage activities to prevent the redeployment of our forces to critical sectors, and increases the density of mine-explosive barriers along the state border in the Belgorod region.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy attempted 10 unsuccessful assaults on the positions of the Defense Forces near the settlement of Synkivka in the Kharkiv region.
In the Lyman direction, our troops repelled 14 enemy attacks in the areas of Bilohorivka, Luhansk region, Terny, and Spirne, Donetsk region, where the enemy tried to break through our defenses.
In the Bakhmut direction, our defenders repelled 7 enemy attacks in the areas of Predtechyne, Klischiivka, and Bila Hora, Donetsk region.
In the Avdiivka direction, our defenders repelled 13 enemy attacks in the areas of Berdychi, Orlivka, Tonenke, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske, Donetsk region.
In the Novopavlivka direction, the Defense Forces continued to hold back the enemy in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Novomykhailivka, Vodiane, and Urozhaine, where the enemy, supported by aviation, attempted 29 times to break through our troops' defenses.
In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy attacked our defenders' positions 6 times in the areas of Staramaiorske, Donetsk region, and Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region.
In the Kherson direction, the enemy persists in its intention to dislodge our units from the bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro River. During the past day, there was one assault on our troops' positions.
At the same time, our soldiers continue active operations to inflict losses on the occupying forces in personnel and equipment, wearing down the enemy along the entire front line.
Enemy losses
The Defense Forces' aviation conducted strikes on 6 areas of concentration of enemy personnel, weapons, and military equipment.
Missile forces units targeted 2 ammunition depots, 1 ground control point for drones, and 1 enemy electronic warfare station.
It should be noted that the total number of losses in the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion is 432,390 military personnel.
