Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of March 12

Ukrainian military repelled 21 enemy attacks in the Novopavlivka direction, held positions, and repelled assaults by occupation forces in the Kherson direction. Aviation struck 8 areas where enemy personnel were concentrated, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian shelling
During the past day, there were 72 skirmishes. In total, the enemy launched 8 missile strikes and 114 airstrikes and conducted 107 shelling attacks with rocket artillery on the positions of our troops and civilian areas.
Unfortunately, due to Russian terrorist attacks, there are casualties and injuries among the civilian population.
The following locations were struck by aviation:
- Progress in the Chernihiv region;
- Obukhivka, Ambarne, Kupiansk, Petropavlivka in the Kharkiv region;
- Kryvoshyivka and Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region;
- Druzhba, Toretsk, Terny, Yampolivka, Fedorivka, Chasiv Yar, Novokalynove, Novobakhmutivka, Zavitne, Oleksandrivka, Novopokrovske, Novoselivka Persha, Novomykhailivka, Vodiane, Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region;
- Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, and Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region;
- Nikopol in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
Over 145 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions were under artillery fire.
Frontline situation
In the Volyn and Polissya directions, the operational situation remains relatively unchanged.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy maintains military presence in border areas, conducts sabotage activities to prevent the transfer of our forces to threatened areas, and increases the density of mine-explosive barriers along the state border in the Belgorod region.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy did not engage in offensive (assault) actions.
In the Lyman direction, our troops repelled 15 enemy attacks in the areas of the settlements of Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region, Hryhorivka, and Terny in the Donetsk region.
In the Bakhmut direction, the Defense Forces repelled 6 enemy attacks in the areas of the settlements of Klishchiivka, Andriivka, Stupochky, and east of Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region.
In the Avdiivka direction, our defenders repelled 16 enemy attacks in the areas of the settlements of Berdychi, Orlivka, Tonenke, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske in the Donetsk region.
In the Novopavlivka direction, the Defense Forces continued to hold back the enemy in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Novomykhailivka, and Pobieda in the Donetsk region, where, with the support of aviation, the enemy attempted 21 times to break through the defense of our troops.
In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy attacked the positions of our defenders 7 times in the areas of Robotyne, Staromaiorske, and northwest of Verbove in the Zaporizhzhia region.
In the Kherson direction, the enemy is not giving up on its intention to dislodge our units from the bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro River. During the day, there was 1 attempt to storm the positions of our troops.
Enemy losses
During the past day, Defense Aviation struck at 8 areas of concentration of personnel, weaponry, and military equipment, as well as 1 enemy command post.
Missile troops units inflicted strikes on 2 areas of concentration of personnel, weaponry, and military equipment, a Buk-M1 anti-aircraft missile system, and a 1L219 Zoopark counter-battery radar complex.
The total number of losses of the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion is 424,980 military personnel.
