Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of March 9

Ukrainian forces repelled 22 enemy attacks in the Avdiivka direction, holding their positions and repelling assaults by occupying forces in the Kherson direction. Missile forces hit 3 radio electronic warfare stations of the enemy, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian shelling
During the past day, according to updated information, 63 armed confrontations were recorded. Additionally, the enemy launched 8 missile strikes and 107 airstrikes, conducted 113 shelling attacks with reactive volley fire systems on the positions of our troops and populated areas.
As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there are casualties and fatalities among the civilian population. Multi-story and private houses, as well as other objects of civilian infrastructure, have been destroyed and damaged.
Aviation strikes targeted:
- Sopych, Sydorivka, and Volfyne, Sumy region;
- Vovchansk, Synkivka, Tabaivka, and Berestove, Kharkiv region;
- Bilohorivka and Makiivka, Luhansk region;
- Druzhba, Novooleksandrivka, Prohres, Novobakhmutivka, Berdychi, Novoselivka, Novopokrovske, Ocheretyne, Zhelanne, and Volodymyrivka, Donetsk region;
- Verkhnia Tersa, Zaporizhzhia region;
- the city of Kherson.
Over 140 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions came under artillery fire.
Frontline situation
In the Volyn and Polissya directions, the operational situation remains largely unchanged.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy maintains a military presence in border areas, conducts sabotage activities to prevent the transfer of our forces to threatening areas, and increases the density of mine-explosive barriers along the state border in the Belgorod region.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy launched 3 attacks near the settlements of Synkivka and Kyslivka in the Kharkiv region, attempting to improve its tactical position.
In the Lyman direction, our troops repelled 5 enemy attacks in the areas of the settlements of Terny and Spirne, in the Donetsk region.
In the Bakhmut direction, the Defense Forces repelled 9 enemy attacks in the areas of the settlements of Andriivka and Klishchiivka, Donetsk region.
In the Avdiivka direction, our defenders repelled 15 enemy attacks in the areas of the settlements of Berdychi, Orlivka, Tonenke, Pervomaiske, Nevelske, Donetsk region.
In the Novopavlivka direction, the Defense Forces continued to hold back the enemy in the areas of Pobieda, Krasnohorivka, Novomykhailivka, Donetsk region, where the enemy, with aviation support, attempted to breach our troops' defense 22 times.
In the Orikhiv direction, our troops repelled 8 enemy attacks in the areas of Robotyne and west of Verbove, Zaporizhzhia region.
In the Kherson direction, the Defense Forces continue to hold their positions.
Enemy losses
During the past day, the defense forces' aviation conducted strikes on 10 areas of concentration of personnel, armament, and military equipment of the enemy. Defense forces destroyed 12 out of 15 Russian-operated UAVs of the Shahed type.
Missile troops units inflicted damage on 1 area of concentration of armament and military equipment, 1 command post, 3 radio-electronic warfare stations, including two R-330Zh Zhitel systems, 1 heavy flamethrower system TOS-1A Solntsepek, and 1 enemy ammunition depot.
The total number of losses of the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion amounts to 422,310 military personnel.
