Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of December 27

Russians shelling

Over the past day, there were 80 combat engagements. In total, the enemy launched 8 missile and 60 aviation strikes, conducted 69 shelling attacks with rocket artillery on the positions of our forces and civilian settlements.

Due to Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there are casualties and injuries among the civilian population. Private residential houses and other civilian infrastructure have suffered destruction and damage.

The following areas were subjected to aviation strikes:

• Hrem'yach, Chernihiv region;

• Varvarivka, Synkivka, Ivanivka, Kupiansk, Sobolivka, Kharkiv region;

• Serebrianske Forestry Area, Bilohorivka, Luhansk region;

• Dibrova, Novobakhmutivka, Oleksandrivka, Novomykhailivka, Donetsk region;

• Zmiivka, Krynyky, Kherson region.

Approximately 100 populated areas in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions came under artillery fire.

The frontline situation

In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation remains largely unchanged.

In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy maintains military presence in border areas, actively engages in subversive activities to prevent the transfer of our forces to threatening directions, and increases the density of mine-explosive obstacles along the state border in the Belgorod region.

In the Kupiansk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 8 enemy attacks in the areas of Synkivka and northeast of Petropavlivka in the Kharkiv region, where the enemy attempted to break through our forces' defense.

In the Lyman direction, the Defense Forces repelled 11 enemy attacks in the areas of Serebrianske Forestry Area in the Luhansk region and Vesele in the Donetsk region.

In the Bakhmut direction, our soldiers repelled 8 enemy attacks near the settlements of Bohdanivka, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka in the Donetsk region.

In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defenders continue to restrain the enemy, who does not cease attempts to encircle Avdiivka. Our soldiers steadfastly hold their defense, inflicting significant losses on the enemy.

During the past day, the Defense Forces repelled 13 enemy attacks east of Novobakhmutivka and Avdiivka, and 16 attacks near Pervomaiske and Nevelske in the Donetsk region.

In the Maryinka direction, our soldiers continue to restrain the enemy in the areas of Novomykhailivka and Pobeda in the Donetsk region, where 7 attacks were repelled.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, the enemy did not engage in offensive (assault) actions.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the Defense Forces repelled 9 enemy attacks in the area of Robotyne and west of Verbove in the Zaporizhzhia region.

Offensive by Ukrainian Armed Forces

The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue actively inflicting losses on the occupying forces in both personnel and equipment, wearing down the enemy along the entire front line.

In the Kherson direction, Ukrainian defenders continue efforts to expand the foothold. Despite significant losses, the enemy persists in attempts to dislodge our units from their positions.

During the past day, the adversary carried out 14 unsuccessful assault actions, faced a robust counteraction, and retreated.

Enemy losses

During the past day, the Air Defense Forces conducted airstrikes on 17 concentration areas of enemy personnel, weaponry, and military equipment, as well as on 5 anti-aircraft missile systems.

The air defense system successfully destroyed 2 guided aviation missiles X-59 and 1 reconnaissance UAV of the enemy. Additionally, the tactical aviation of our Air Force successfully attacked a large landing ship of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation, the Novocherkassk.

Units of the Missile Forces targeted 3 concentration areas of enemy personnel, weaponry, and military equipment, a command post, 2 artillery systems, and 3 other important targets.

The total number of losses in the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion is 354,960 military personnel.
