Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of December 25

Ukrainian soldiers hold positions on the left bank of the Dnipro, repel Russian attacks near Bohdanivka (Donetsk region), and destroy two enemy ammunition depots, according to General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian shelling
Over the past day, there have been 76 combat engagements. The enemy launched 1 missile and conducted 19 airstrikes, with 30 bombardments from multiple rocket launcher systems targeting our military positions and civilian areas. Unfortunately, there are casualties among the civilian population due to these Russian terrorist attacks. Private residences and other civilian infrastructure have suffered destruction and damage.
The situation on the frontlines
On the Volyn and Polissia fronts, the operational situation remains unchanged, with no significant signs of offensive group formations observed. Identified units of the Belarusian Armed Forces are performing tasks in border areas with Ukraine.
On the Siversk and Slobozhanske fronts, the enemy maintains military presence in border areas, conducts reconnaissance activities, carries out shelling of populated areas from Russian territory, and increases the density of mine-explosive barriers along the Ukrainian state border.
Over 20 populated areas, including Wolfine Riasne, Sadyky in the Sumy region, Ivashky, Udy, Vovchansk, Budarky, and Ambarne in the Kharkiv region, were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar fire.
On the Kupiansk front, Ukrainian defenders repelled six enemy attacks in the area of the populated settlement of Synkivka in the Kharkiv region, where the enemy unsuccessfully attempted to breach the defense of our forces.
Approximately 10 populated areas, including Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, Berestove in the Kharkiv region, came under artillery and mortar fire.
On the Lyman front, Defense Forces repelled 24 enemy attacks in the areas of Serebrianske forestry, Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region, and Veseloye in the Donetsk region, where the enemy, with air support, attempted to breach our forces' defense.
The enemy conducted airstrikes in the areas of Terni, Dibrova, Siversk, Viyimka, Spirne, Vesele in the Donetsk region. Over 10 populated areas, including Nevske, Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region, and Torske, Serebrianka, Verkhniokam’ianske, Spirne, Rozdolivka in the Donetsk region, were affected by enemy artillery and mortar shelling.
On the Bakhmut front, Defense Forces repelled four enemy attacks in the area of the populated settlement of Bohdanivka in the Donetsk region. Around 10 populated areas, including Vasiukivka, Kalynivka, Ivanivske, Stupochky, Andriivka, New York in the Donetsk region, were under artillery and mortar fire.
On the Avdiivka front, our defenders repelled 20 enemy attacks east of Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Avdiivka, and 12 more attacks in the areas of Pervomaiske and Nevelske in the Donetsk region, where the enemy unsuccessfully attempted to breach our forces' defense.
Additionally, the enemy conducted an airstrike in the area of Novobakhmutivka in the Donetsk region. About 10 populated areas, including Ocheretyne, Berdychiv, Stepove, Avdiivka, Siverne, Pervomaiske in the Donetsk region, were affected by enemy artillery and mortar fire.
On the Maryinka front, Defense Forces continue to hold back the enemy in the area of Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region, where the enemy, supported by aviation, conducted three unsuccessful attacks on our defenders' positions.
Populated areas in the Donetsk region, including Heorhiivka, Maryinka, Pobeda, Novomykhailivka, and Kostiantynivka, were under enemy artillery and mortar fire.
On the Shakhtarsk front, our defenders repelled three enemy attacks in the area of Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region. Around 10 populated areas, including Vodiane, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Urozhaine, Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region, were affected by enemy artillery and mortar fire.
On the Zaporizhzhia front, Defense Forces repelled two attacks in the area of the populated settlement of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to displace our units from occupied positions.
Approximately 20 populated areas, including Levadne, Malynivka, Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Orihiv, and Piatykhatky in the Zaporizhzhia region, were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar fire.
In the area under the responsibility of the Odesa Regional Military Administration on the Kherson front, enemy artillery shelling affected Tiahynka, Antonivka, Kherson, Solonchaky, and Kutsurub in the Mykolaiv region.
The advance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The enemy remains determined to dislodge Ukrainian units from the footholds on the right bank of the Dnipro. Over the past day, the enemy attempted 12 unsuccessful assaults, faced firm resistance, and suffered significant losses.
Our units are steadfastly holding the defense, maintaining their positions, and delivering effective fire on the enemy.
Enemy losses
During the day, the Defense Forces' aviation conducted strikes on four concentrations of personnel, weaponry, and military equipment of the enemy.
Units of the missile forces targeted four areas of concentration of personnel, weaponry, and military equipment, destroying two ammunition depots and three anti-aircraft missile systems of the enemy.
The total number of losses in the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion amounts to 353,950 military personnel.
