Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of December 14

Ukrainian soldiers are holding positions on the left bank of the Dnipro River, repelling Russian attacks in the Novomykhailivka area (Donetsk region) and striking four areas with concentrations of enemy personnel, according to the summary from General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian shelling
Over the past day, there have been 82 armed clashes. The enemy launched 4 missile strikes and 32 air raids, carried out 29 shelling attacks with rocket artillery on the positions of our troops and civilian settlements.
Unfortunately, due to Russian terrorist attacks, there are casualties among the civilian population. Private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure have suffered destruction and damage.
The situation on the fronts
The operational situation in the east and south of Ukraine remains challenging.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation has seen no significant changes. There are no signs of the formation of offensive groups. Identified units of the Armed Forces of Belarus are performing tasks in border areas with Ukraine.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the adversary maintains military presence in border areas, conducts sabotage and reconnaissance activities, fires on settlements from the territory of the Russian Federation, and increases the density of mine-explosive obstacles along the state border of Ukraine.
More than 20 settlements, including Hremyach (Chernihiv region), Yizdetske, Popivka, Atynske (Sumy region), Vovchansk, Veternarne, Huryiv Kozachok (Kharkiv region), have experienced artillery and mortar shelling by the enemy.
In the Kupiansk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 13 enemy attacks in the area of Synkivka, Kharkiv region, where the enemy, supported by aviation, attempted to break through the defense of our troops.
Under artillery and mortar fire, approximately 10 settlements, including Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, and Ivanivka in the Kharkiv region, found themselves.
In the Lyman direction, the Defense Forces repelled an enemy attack east of Terniv in the Donetsk region. Also, the occupiers carried out an aviation strike in the area of the Serebrianske forestry in the Luhansk region.
Due to artillery and mortar shelling by the enemy, about 10 settlements suffered, including Nevske, Bilohorivka, Serebrianske forestry in the Luhansk region, and Torske, Spirne, Verkhniokamyanske in the Donetsk region.
In the Bakhmut direction, our soldiers repelled 7 enemy attacks near Ivanivka, Klischiivka, and Andriivka in the Donetsk region. Under artillery and mortar fire, approximately 10 settlements, including Bohdanivka, Chasiv Yar, Klischiivka, Andriivka, and New York in the Donetsk region, found themselves.
In the Avdiivka direction, the enemy, supported by aviation, unsuccessfully tried to break through the defense of our troops. Ukrainian defenders repelled 19 enemy attacks east of Novobakhmutivka, Avdiivka, and another 17 south of Severne, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske in the Donetsk region.
Over 15 settlements suffered from enemy artillery and mortar shelling, including Stepove, Avdiivka, Pervomaiske, and Karlivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Maryinka direction, the Defense Forces continue to restrain the enemy in the area of Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. Here, the enemy, with the support of aviation, carried out 11 unsuccessful attacks on the positions of our defenders.
Under artillery and mortar fire, the occupiers targeted Krasnohorivka, Mariinka, Pobeda, Novomykhailivka, and Kostiantynivka.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, the enemy did not conduct offensive (assault) actions. About 10 settlements, including Vuhledar, Prechystivka, and Urozhaine in the Donetsk region, suffered from artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the Defense Forces repelled 9 enemy attacks north of Pryiutne, west, and northwest of Verbov in the Zaporizhzhia region.
Over 20 settlements suffered from artillery and mortar shelling, including Poltavka, Huliapole, Charivne, Mala Tokmachka, Robotine, and Mali Shcherbaky in the Zaporizhzhia region.
In the Kherson direction, the enemy's artillery shelling targeted Kherson, Antonivka in the Kherson region, and Ochakiv in the Mykolaiv region. The enemy conducted an aviation strike in the area of the settlement of Kryinka in the Kherson region.
Advance of the Ukrainian Armed Forces
Ukrainian forces continue to maintain positions on the left bank of the Dnipro River in the Kherson region, consistently inflicting fire on the enemy.
Enemy losses
Over the course of the day, the Defense Forces' aviation carried out strikes on 2 areas with concentrations of enemy personnel, weaponry, and military equipment.
Rocket forces units targeted 2 areas with concentrations of enemy personnel, weaponry, and military equipment.
It is worth noting that the total number of losses in the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion is reported to be 342,800 military personnel.
