Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of November 16

Russian occupiers attempted to conduct assaults on six fronts, but Ukrainian forces repelled them, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian attacks
Over the day, 62 clashes took place. In total, the enemy launched 9 missile and 31 aviation strikes and conducted 26 shellings with multiple rocket launchers on the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas.
Additionally, the Russian Federation carried out another aerial strike on Ukraine, using 18 UAVs of the Shahed-136/131 type. Air defense forces destroyed 16 drones.
Frontline situation
The operational situation in the east and south of Ukraine remains complex.
On the Volyn and Polissia directions, there are no significant changes in the operational situation. There are no signs of the formation of offensive groups. Identified units of the armed forces of Belarus are performing tasks in border areas with Ukraine.
On the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the adversary maintains military presence in border areas, conducts sabotage and reconnaissance activities, fires on settlements from the territory of the Russian Federation, and increases the density of mine-explosive barriers along the state border of Ukraine. Approximately 20 settlements were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling.
On the Kupiansk direction, the enemy unsuccessfully conducted storming actions near Synkivka and Petropavlivka in the Kharkiv region, where Ukrainian soldiers repelled four attacks. An aerial strike was carried out in the area of Petropavlivka. Over 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.
On the Lyman direction, the enemy did not conduct offensive (storming) actions. An aerial strike was carried out in the area of Serebrianske forestry in the Luhansk region. About 10 settlements were affected by enemy artillery and mortar shelling.
On the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian forces repelled 18 enemy attacks in the areas of Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka in the Donetsk region. Occupiers carried out an aerial strike near Dyliivka in the Donetsk region. Over 10 settlements were under artillery and mortar fire.
On the Avdiivka direction, the enemy unsuccessfully conducted storming actions east of Stepove, Avdiivka, and Pervomaiske in the Donetsk region, where 15 attacks were repelled by defense forces. Over 15 settlements were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling.
On the Maryinka direction, the enemy unsuccessfully conducted storming actions with the support of aviation in the areas of Maryinka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region, where Ukrainian defenders repelled 15 attacks. 7 settlements came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.
On the Shakhtarsk direction, the enemy unsuccessfully conducted storming actions near Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region. Aerial strikes were carried out in the areas of Urozhaine and Staromaiorske. About 10 settlements were affected by enemy artillery and mortar shelling.
On the Zaporizhzhia direction, the enemy unsuccessfully conducted storming actions in the areas of Robotyne and west of Verbove in the Zaporizhzhia region, where the defenders repelled five attacks. The enemy carried out aerial strikes near Novodarivka and Mala Tokmachka in the Zaporizhzhia region. Over 20 settlements were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling.
On the Kherson direction, the enemy artillery shelled Kherson, Ivanivka, and Bilozerka in the Kherson region.
Ukrainian offensive
Defense forces continue to conduct an offensive operation on the Melitopol direction and offensive (storming) actions on the Bakhmut direction. Ukrainian Armed Forces inflict losses on occupation forces in personnel and equipment, exhausting the enemy along the entire front line.
Russian losses
Over the day, the Air Force of the Defense Forces launched two strikes on the areas of concentration of enemy personnel.
Missile units struck three areas of concentration of enemy personnel, weapons, and military equipment, six artillery systems, two command posts, and two ammunition depots of the enemy.
Ukrainian forces eliminated another 1,330 occupiers. The total number of losses of the Russian army as of November 16 is 315,620 military personnel.
