Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of November 8
Ukraine's defense forces continue their assault operations south of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region and are carrying out an offensive operation in the direction of Melitopol. There have been 45 combat clashes over the past day, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Enemy attacks
Over the past day, the enemy has launched 6 missile strikes and 50 aerial attacks, along with 64 artillery barrages from rocket artillery systems on the positions of Ukrainian forces and civilian settlements.
Unfortunately, due to the Russian terrorist attacks, there have been casualties and injuries among the civilian population. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure have suffered damage and destruction.
Aerial strikes targeted the following locations: Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, Pishchane, Proletarske in the Kharkiv region; Nadiia, Serebryanske Forestry in the Luhansk region; Riznykivka, Spirne, Rozdolivka, Klishchiivka, Avdiivka, Novomykhailivka, Vuhledar, Rivnopil in the Donetsk region; Tyahynka in the Kherson region.
More than 80 populated areas in the Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions have been subjected to artillery fire.
Frontline situation
In the responsibility zone of the North operational-strategic group on the Volyn and Polissya directions, the operational situation remains relatively stable.
On the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy maintains a military presence in border areas, engaging in active subversive activities to prevent the transfer of Ukrainian forces to critical directions and increasing the density of mine and explosive obstacles along the state border in the Belgorod region.
In the responsibility zone of the Khortytsia operational-strategic group on the Kupiansk direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful assault operations in the areas of the populated localities of Synkivka, Ivanivka, and Berestove in the Kharkiv region, where Ukrainian defenders repelled six enemy attacks.
On the Lyman direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful assault operations near Serebryanske Forest.
On the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian forces repelled six attacks by occupiers near Bohdanivka, Andriivka, and Klishchiivka in the Donetsk region. At the same time, Ukraine's defense forces continue their assault operations south of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region, inflicting losses on the enemy in personnel and equipment, and consolidating their achieved positions.
In the responsibility zone of the Tavria operational-strategic group on the Avdiivka direction, the enemy continues its attempts to encircle Avdiivka. Ukrainian soldiers maintain their defense and inflict significant losses on the enemy. Specifically, Ukrainian forces repelled 14 enemy attacks near Stepove, Avdiivka, Tonenke, and Pervomaiske in the Donetsk region.
On the Maryinka direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful assault operations in the area of Mariinka in the Donetsk region, where Ukrainian defenders repelled 17 attacks.
On the Shakhtarsk direction, the enemy conducted assault operations in the area of Staromykhailivka in the Donetsk region but did not achieve success.
On the Zaporizhzhia direction, the enemy did not conduct offensive operations.
Simultaneously, Ukrainian defense forces continue their offensive operations on the Melitopol direction, inflicting losses on the occupying forces in personnel and equipment and wearing down the enemy along the entire frontline.
In the responsibility zone of the Odesa operational-strategic group on the Kherson direction, Ukrainian soldiers engage in counter-battery combat, delivering fire on the enemy's rear positions.
Enemy losses
Over the past day, the aviation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched 17 strikes on areas with enemy personnel, equipment, and military vehicles, along with 4 strikes on the enemy's anti-aircraft missile systems.
The missile troops units hit 7 artillery pieces, 2 command posts, a fuel and lubricants depot, an area with enemy personnel, equipment, and military vehicles, an anti-air defense system, 2 radar stations, and a radio-electronic warfare station used by the enemy.
