Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of September 28

Russian attacks

During the past day, the Russian Federation launched another attack on Ukraine, using 5 unmanned combat aerial vehicles (UCAVs) of the Shahed-136/131 type, of which 3 were successfully destroyed by Ukrainian Air Force units in cooperation with air defense systems and other components of the defense forces.

Additionally, during the night, occupying forces once again targeted Ukraine with 39 Shahed-136/131 UCAVs. As a result of combat operations and air defense measures, 31 enemy Shahed drones were destroyed.

Overall, the Russians carried out 2 missile strikes and 57 aerial attacks, launching more than 50 rocket artillery strikes both on our military positions and civilian objects within our country. Unfortunately, there have been casualties and injuries among the civilian population due to these Russian terrorist attacks, causing damage to private residential houses, a civilian hospital, 2 civilian enterprises, and other infrastructure.

Aerial strikes targeted locations including: Popivka in Chernihiv region; Bolohivka, Krugliakivka in Kharkiv region; Novoselivske, Nadiya, Novoyehorivka, Nevske in Luhansk region; Yampolivka, Siversk, Spirne, Vesele, Andriivka, Kostiantynivka, Pivnichne, Toretsk, Avdiivka, Kurakhove, Vodiane, Novomykhailivka, Urozhaine, Staromayorsk in Donetsk region; Novodanylivka in Zaporizhzhia region; Mykolaivka, Burkunka, Olhivka in Kherson region.

Over 110 populated areas in the Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions have been subjected to artillery fire.

Frontline situation

In the area of responsibility of the Pivnich (North) operational-strategic group, spanning Volyn and Polissia fronts, the operational situation remains relatively unchanged.

On the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy maintains a military presence in border areas, actively conducting sabotage activities aimed at preventing the movement of our troops to critical areas, and increasing the density of mine and explosive barriers along the state border in the Belgorod region.

In the area of responsibility of the Khortytsia operational-strategic group, covering Kupiansk and Lyman fronts, the enemy has not initiated offensive actions.

On the Bakhmut front, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled enemy attacks in the areas of Hryhorivka, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka in the Donetsk region.

In the area of responsibility of the Tavria operational-strategic group, along the Avdiivka front, Ukrainian defense forces repelled an enemy attack near the settlement of Pervomaiske in the Donetsk region.

On the Maryinka direction, the enemy's attempted offensive actions in the Marinka area of the Donetsk region were unsuccessful, with 13 failed attempts to dislodge our units from their positions during the past day.

On the Shakhtarsk direction, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled an enemy attack in the Rivnopolya area of the Donetsk region.

On the Zaporizhzhia direction, the enemy attempted to regain lost ground in the Robotyne area of the Zaporizhzhia region but was unsuccessful.

Ukrainian defense forces continue their offensive operations on the Melitopol direction, launching offensive actions on the Bakhmut front, inflicting casualties on occupying forces in personnel and equipment, and wearing down the enemy along the entire front line.

In the area of responsibility of the Odesa operational-strategic group, along the Kherson front, Ukrainian defense forces continue counter-battery operations, destroying depots and successfully targeting enemy rear areas.

Russian losses

Over the past day, Ukrainian defense forces conducted 7 airstrikes on areas with concentrations of enemy personnel, weaponry, and military equipment. Additionally, Ukrainian forces destroyed 2 tactical-level reconnaissance UCAVs.

Missile troops inflicted damage on an enemy command post, a S-300 air defense system, and 6 artillery pieces.
