Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of September 18
Ukrainian fighters continue to advance on two fronts. They repelled nearly 10 enemy attacks in the Maryinka area and destroyed one Russian command post, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian shelling
Over the course of the day, more than 20 combat clashes took place.
Overnight Russia launched another strike on Ukraine using cruise missiles from air bases and strike UAVs of the Shahed-136/131 type. All 17 cruise missiles and 18 out of 24 Shaheds were destroyed.
In total, during the day, the enemy launched 17 missile strikes and 33 airstrikes and conducted 26 shelling attacks from multiple rocket launcher systems on the positions of Ukrainian forces and settlements.
Frontline situation
On the Volyn and Polissia fronts, there have been no significant changes in the operational situation.
No signs of offensive group formations have been detected. Units of the Armed Forces of Belarus are performing tasks in border areas with Ukraine.
On the Siversk and Slobozhanske fronts, the enemy maintains a military presence in border areas and continues to shell settlements from the territory of the Russian Federation. Over 15 settlements were shelled by artillery and mortar fire.
On the Kupiansk front, the enemy conducted aerial strikes in the areas of Berestove, Kopanky, and Shyikivka in the Kharkiv region. Settlements such as Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, Kyslivka were subjected to artillery and mortar fire.
On the Lyman front, the enemy carried out aerial strikes near Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region and Novosadove in the Donetsk region. Over 10 settlements were affected by artillery and mortar fire.
On the Bakhmut front, the Defense Forces successfully repelled a series of enemy attacks in the area of Klischiivka in the Donetsk region. The enemy attempted to regain lost positions in the area of Andriivka in the Donetsk region but unsuccessfully. They launched an aerial strike in the area of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. Over 10 settlements, including Markove, Bakhmut, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, New York were under artillery and mortar fire.
On the Avdiivka front, the enemy conducted an aerial strike in the Avdiivka area. Approximately 10 settlements were shelled by artillery and mortars.
On the Maryinka front, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled nearly 10 enemy attacks in the Maryinka area during the day. The enemy launched an aerial strike in the Krasnohorivka area of the Donetsk region. Settlements such as Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Maryinka, Novomykhailivka, Katerynivka were affected by artillery and mortar fire.
On the Shakhtarsk front, the enemy conducted aerial strikes near Vuhledar and Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region. Settlements including Vodiane, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, Blahodatne, Urozhaine, Rivnopil were subjected to artillery and mortar fire.
On the Zaporizhzhia front, the Defense Forces successfully repelled enemy attacks in the Robotyne area of the Zaporizhzhia region. The enemy launched aerial strikes near Mala Tokmachka and Robotyne. Over 15 settlements were under artillery and mortar fire.
On the Kherson front, the enemy conducted aerial strikes in the areas of settlements Vesele, Odradokamianka, and Mykolaivka. Approximately 10 settlements were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar fire.
Advance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The Ukrainian forces continue their offensive operation on the Melitopol front, offensive (assault) actions on the Bakhmut front, and are gradually liberating the occupied territories, destroying the enemy step by step.
Enemy losses
During the day, the aviation of the Defense Forces launched 8 strikes on the areas of concentration of enemy personnel, equipment, and military vehicles.
Units of the missile troops struck 2 areas of concentration of enemy personnel, equipment, and military vehicles, 1 anti-aircraft missile complex, 6 artillery units, and 1 enemy command post.
The total number of Russian losses since the beginning of the invasion is 272,940 military personnel.
