Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of August 25

Ukrainian forces are advancing in the Melitopol direction. They also destroyed one Russian anti-aircraft missile system and repelled a Russian attack near Klishchiivka, according to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Russian attacks
Over the day, the enemy conducted 2 missile strikes and 39 aerial attacks, as well as 72 rocket artillery attacks on the positions of Ukrainian troops and civilian settlements.
Successful air force operations today resulted in the destruction of 2 Kalibr cruise missiles and 1 Shahed-136/131 drone. Unfortunately, there have been casualties among the civilian population due to Russian terrorist attacks.
Residential buildings, schools, and other civilian infrastructure have been damaged.
Frontline situation
Approximately 20 clashes occurred during the day.
On the Volyn and Polissia fronts, the operational situation remains relatively unchanged.
On the Siversk and Slobozhanske fronts, the enemy carried out mortar and artillery bombardments of over 25 settlements.
On the Kupiansk front, the enemy conducted aerial strikes in the areas of Kyslivka and Pishchane in the Kharkiv region. Synkivka, Kupiansk, and Orlianske were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling.
On the Lyman front, the enemy's attempted advances in the Novoiehorivka area of the Luhansk region were unsuccessful. Aerial strikes were carried out in the areas of Chervonyi Stav, Tverdokhlibove, Makiivka, and Vesele. Over 30 settlements were subjected to enemy artillery bombardments.
On the Bakhmut front, the enemy's attempts at advancing near Klishchiivka in the Donetsk region were unsuccessful. Over 25 settlements were affected by enemy artillery shelling.
On the Avdiivka front, the enemy's attempts at advancing in the Pervomaiske area of the Donetsk region were unsuccessful. Settlements such as Novokalynove, Stepove, Avdiivka, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske were subjected to artillery shelling.
On the Maryinka front, Ukrainian defense forces continue to hold back Russian advances in the Maryinka area of the Donetsk region. The enemy conducted an aerial strike in the Krasnohorivka area. Settlements including Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, Kurakhove, Novomykhailivka, Kostiantynivka, and Hostre in the Donetsk region were affected by enemy artillery bombardments.
On the Shakhtarsk front, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled attacks by Russian forces in the Vuhledar area of the Donetsk region. The enemy conducted aerial strikes in the areas of Vuhledar, Vremivka, Blahodatne, Staromaiorske, and Urozhaine in the Donetsk region. Over 10 settlements were affected by enemy artillery shelling.
On the Zaporizhzhia front, the enemy conducted aerial strikes in the areas of Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne, and Novodanylivka. Over 20 settlements were affected by enemy artillery shelling.
On the Kherson front, settlements such as Dmytrivka, Mykilske, Kherson, and Dniprovske were affected by enemy artillery shelling.
Ukrainian advance
Ukrainian defense forces continue their offensive operations on the Melitopol front, solidifying their achieved positions and conducting counter-battery measures.
Enemy losses
During the day, Ukrainian defense aviation conducted 10 strikes on personnel concentration areas and 1 on an enemy anti-aircraft missile complex.
Rocket forces and artillery units inflicted damage on 1 enemy anti-aircraft missile complex and 3 artillery pieces in enemy firing positions.
The total number of losses in the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion is 259,630 military personnel.
