Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of August 9

According to the Facebook post of Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff, Ukrainian military continues their offensive on the Melitopol and Berdiansk fronts. During the last 24 hours, more than 30 combat clashes have taken place.
Russian shelling
Over the past day, the enemy launched 4 missiles and 53 aviation strikes, coupled with 86 artillery barrages from multiple rocket launch systems targeting our troops' positions and civilian settlements.
Unfortunately, due to these Russian-led terrorist attacks, there have been casualties and injuries among the civilian population, resulting in damage to residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure.
The probability of missile and aviation strikes across the entire territory of Ukraine remains high.
Frontline situation
In the Volyn and Polissia direction, the operational situation remains relatively stable without significant alterations.
In the Siversk and Slobodzhanske direction, the enemy conducted aviation strikes in the regions of Hremiachka and Leonivka within the Chernihiv region. They also launched mortar and artillery barrages on over 30 populated areas, including Volodymyrivka, Senkivka, Yasna Poliana in Chernihiv region; Znob-Novhorodske, Seredyna Buda, Bunyakyne, Volfyne, Velyka Pysarivka in Sumy region, and Strilecha, Pylna, Hatyshche, Budarky, Bologivka within Kharkiv region.
In the Kupiansk direction, our troops steadfastly maintained their defense and successfully repelled adversary attacks in the vicinity of Synkivka, Kharkiv region. The enemy launched aviation strikes in the regions of Synkivka, Kotliarivka within the Kharkiv region, and Novoselivka in the Luhansk region. Enemy artillery and mortar barrages affected over 10 populated areas, including Dvorichna, Kucherivka, Kupiansk, Kyslivka, Berestove within Kharkiv region.
In the Lyman direction, the adversary conducted aviation strikes in the regions of Bilohorivka, Luhansk region, and Terniv, Serebrianka, Spirne, and Vesele within Donetsk region. Artillery barrages from the enemy impacted Bilohorivka, Luhansk region, and Torske, Verkhniokamianske, Spirne, and Rozdolivka within Donetsk region.
In the Bakhmut direction, our forces resolutely maintained their defensive positions, successfully repelling enemy attacks in the outskirts of Klishchiivka and the Zaitseve region, Donetsk region.
The enemy carried out aviation strikes in the regions of Kramatorsk, Markove, Klishchiivka, Pivnichne, and New York, Donetsk region. Over 15 populated areas suffered from enemy artillery shelling, including Chasiv Yar, Predtechyne, Bila Hora, Pivnichne, and New York, Donetsk region.
In the Avdiivka direction, under intense enemy aviation and artillery fire, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled Russian military attacks in the areas of Novokalynove, Avdiivka, and Severne, Donetsk region. Enemy aviation strikes were launched in the regions of Severne and Pervomaiske, Donetsk region. More than 10 populated areas were subjected to enemy artillery shelling, including Avdiivka, Tonenke, Soloviove, Pervomaiske, and Karlivka, Donetsk region.
In the Maryinka direction, Ukrainian defense forces continue to hold their positions and deter Russian military advances near Maryinka and Novomykhailivka, Donetsk region. The adversary launched an aviation strike in the region of Krasnohorivka, Donetsk region. Russian artillery shelling affected Krasnohorivka, Hostre, Maryinka, and Novomykhailivka, Donetsk region.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, the enemy made unsuccessful attempts to regain lost ground in the area of Staromaiorske. Aviation strikes were carried out in the regions of populated areas such as Vremivka, Blahodatne, and Staromykhailivka, Donetsk region. Enemy artillery shelling impacted Vodiane, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, Blahodatne, and Staromaiorske, Donetsk region, as well as Levadne, Zaporizhzhia region.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the enemy launched aviation strikes in the regions of Novodanylivka and Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region. More than 15 populated areas suffered enemy artillery shelling, including Rivnopil, Novodarivka, Olhivske, Pyatyakhatky, Lobkove, Kamyanske, Zaporizhzhia region, and Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk region.
On the Kherson front, enemy aviation strikes were experienced near Olhivka, Kherson region. Artillery strikes were experienced by over 10 settlements, including Olhivka, Zmiivka, Mykhailivka, Mykilske and Veletenske in the Kherson region, as well as the city of Kherson, and also Kutsurub and Ochakiv in the Mykolaiv region.
Simultaneously, Ukrainian defense forces continue their offensive operation along the Melitopol and Berdyansk fronts, securing their positions and implementing counter-battery measures.
Enemy losses
Over the previous day, Ukrainian defense aviation launched 10 strikes on areas where enemy personnel, weaponry, and military hardware were concentrated.
Rocket troops and artillery units effectively targeted 2 command posts, 5 artillery systems on firing positions, an ammunition depot, and 2 radio-electronic warfare stations within enemy ranks.
