Ukraine and Russia carried out the first stage of a new large-scale prisoner exchange today, June 9, successfully returning home several young Ukrainian defenders and others, according to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

Today's exchange was made possible through the efforts of the Joint Center for Coordination of the Search and Release of Prisoners of War, the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, and other authorized bodies that carried out the assignment of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The SBU emphasized that President Zelenskyy expects full implementation of all humanitarian agreements reached during the recent negotiations between the Ukrainian and Russian delegations in Istanbul.
