Russia transferring EW systems from St. Petersburg to border with Ukraine - Partisans
The Russian forces are transferring electronic warfare (EW) systems from St. Petersburg to the border with Ukraine. This is being done to protect against drones, according to the partisan movement Atesh.
"Agents tracked the movement of a column of the Palantin EW systems, consisting of 7 mobile complexes," the message says.
According to the partisans, the Russian army is forced to move these complexes towards the border with Ukraine to counter the increasing drone attacks.
What is known about Palantin EW system
Palantin is an operational-tactical level radio-electronic warfare (REW) system.
The system conducts radio-electronic intelligence and suppresses both existing and prospective enemy communication systems.
EW systems in the war
Radio-electronic warfare (REW) systems play a crucial role in Ukraine's war efforts. As recently noted by the Institute for the Study of War, Ukraine continues to successfully adapt and develop its REW systems against Russian drones. This helps offset the pressure on air defense systems.
Additionally, partisans are constantly conducting reconnaissance on enemy REW systems. For example, they previously carried out reconnaissance of REW complexes near Cape Fiolent (Crimea).
Meanwhile, the Defense Forces are contributing to the destruction of such complexes. Recently, Ukrainian military personnel used an FPV drone to destroy a Russian REW system. Interestingly, the station was supposedly designed to jam all frequencies used by FPV drones.
