The advance of Russian forces is expected by the end of spring, at the beginning of summer. In this regard, the strategic direction for the enemy is Pokrovsk, with possible advancement towards Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region, states the Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov

According to him, the strengthening of Russian offensive actions is expected by the end of spring and at the beginning of summer, especially in the Donbas region.

"They (occupiers) will advance slightly towards Chasiv Yar. They will move towards the city of Pokrovsk, the strategic direction being Pokrovsk," he said.

At the same time, Budanov believes that there will be no significant changes on the front before the expected Russian offensive.

"The situation is quite complex, but it is under control," says the Head of Ukrainian intelligence.

However, Kyrylo Budanov does not rule out a Ukrainian offensive this year. However, he did not elaborate on this topic, specifying that the responsibility for this area lies with the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Situation in the Chasiv Yar area

The city of Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region remains under the control of Ukrainian forces. However, the most intense fighting continues in the areas of Pervomaiske and Vodiane, as well as to the east of Chasiv Yar, where the enemy attempts to break through the defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

At the end of February 2024, it was reported that Russian forces attempted an offensive along the Chasiv Yar - Khromove - Bakhmut line. The enemy retreated due to the loss of a significant amount of armored vehicles. Currently, it is unlikely that Chasiv Yar faces immediate occupation or encirclement, as reported by RBC-Ukraine.

It is worth noting that on April 3, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia is preparing for an additional mobilization of 300,000 people. According to him, according to the plans of the aggressor country, this mobilization is expected to take place by June 1.
