The Russian army has set ambitious plans for 2025 and wants to capture four regions of Ukraine, according to Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov.

The Russians have set a goal of capturing the entire territory of four Ukrainian regions - the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions - by 2025.

“In 2025, Moscow plans to win the war in Ukraine and achieve the goals announced by Putin in June,” Belousov said.

He also suggested the possibility of a war with NATO in the next ten years.

“The Russian Defense Ministry needs to be prepared for any development of the situation, including a possible military conflict with NATO in Europe in the next decade,” he said.

Background

Russian propaganda has recently started spreading fakes that Russia has allegedly achieved the goals of its “special military operation” (as the propaganda calls the invasion of Ukraine), and defeated Ukraine.

A seminar for vice governors was held in Russia, organized by the administration of Russian President Vladimir Putin. It discussed issues related to the war in Ukraine, including Russia's “image of victory” and the attitude of Russians to the “special military operation”.

According to political expert Taras Zahorodniy, such statements are aimed primarily at the Ukrainian audience to distract them.

“The Russians cannot quickly stop their military machine, even if they stop the war tomorrow. Putin has essentially achieved nothing of what he wanted. Ukraine remains a militarized, hostile state that will work on revenge against Russia, and work on the collapse of Russia because this is a matter of our survival. This process will continue," says Zahorodniy.

Russian leader Vladimir Putin signed the law on the Russian budget for 2025. According to Russian state media, the government has budgeted more than 40 trillion rubles in revenues.
