Russian forces attacked the city of Zaporizhzhia again overnight on September 24, sparking a fire and damaging private homes, according to Zaporizhzhia regional governor Ivan Fedorov.

Ahead of the overnight attack, Zaporizhzhia regional governor Ivan Fedorov had warned of a threat of guided aerial bombs (KABs) targeting the region and the city. Shortly after, at least one drone was detected heading toward the city.

"Following the enemy attack, a fire broke out in one of the city’s districts. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties. The consequences are being assessed," Fedorov wrote at 00:21 AM local time.

He later clarified that private homes were also damaged and shared photos of the aftermath. According to updated information, Russian forces struck Zaporizhzhia with two FAB bombs, and the fire has since been contained.

Zaporizhzhia under attack

Russian forces have stepped up large-scale attacks on Zaporizhzhia in recent days, targeting the city with both drones and guided aerial bombs (KABs).

On September 23, an air raid alert in the region lasted more than six hours as Shahed drones and guided bombs were launched toward the city and surrounding areas. One strike hit a local enterprise, sparking a fire. According to officials, one person was killed and 15 others sought medical assistance as a result of the attacks.
