How the attacks were carried out

Russia struck Zaporizhzhia city and region using Shahed strike drones and guided aerial bombs. In addition, the head of the Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov, warned of a threat from cruise missiles to the region.

An air raid alert was in effect from 09:57 AM to 04:31 PM Kyiv time.

"The air raid has now been ongoing in the Zaporizhzhia region for over six hours," he added.

According to preliminary reports, the city was hit by five Shahed drone strikes during the raid. Most of the drones were detected near Khortytsia Island.

The State Emergency Service clarified that within 20 minutes, Russian forces carried out five UAV strikes on the city.

What is known about the victims

As of 04:45 PM, one person has died as a result of today’s attacks — a 45-year-old man. Twelve others were injured, two of them in serious condition. Three more people received medical assistance on site and refused hospitalization.

Significant smoke was also reported in Zaporizhzhia — published photos show burned cars and a large-scale fire. Warehouse facilities were damaged.

Rescuers reported that one of the strikes hit a local enterprise. A fire broke out after the attack, but has since been extinguished by emergency services.
