Russia strikes Ukraine with ballistic missiles and hundreds of drones overnight

On the night of September 24, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with anti-ship and ballistic missiles, as well as 282 strike drones. Air defense forces shot down most of the Russian targets, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
Last night, the Russians struck Ukraine with:
- Zircon anti-ship missiles from the Kursk, Rostov, and Oryol regions
- Iskander-M/S-400/KN-23 ballistic missiles from the Kursk and Bryansk regions
- 282 Shahed-type strike drones (including jet-powered ones), Gerbera drones, Banderol/Dan-T loitering munitions, and Parodiya-type decoy drones from the following directions: Oryol, Millerovo, Shatalovo, Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk of Russia; temporarily occupied Donetsk and Hvardiiske, Chauda of temporarily occupied Crimea; and the waters of the Sea of Azov.
The main targets of the Russian attack are the Odesa and Kyiv regions.
According to preliminary data, as of 8 a.m., air defense systems shot down or neutralized 227 Russian targets:
- 4 Zircon anti-ship missiles
- 3 Iskander-M/S-400/KN-23 ballistic missiles
- 1 Banderol/Dan-T
- 219 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of the Shahed and Gerbera types, as well as other drone types.
Russian airstrikes were recorded at 13 locations, and debris from downed missiles was found at 10 locations.
Russian attacks on Ukraine on September 24
On the night of September 24, Russian forces attacked Kyiv with drones and ballistic missiles—several waves of explosions were heard in the city. Debris fell in several districts of Kyiv. There were fatalities and injuries.
Also that night, the Russians attacked Odesa—the roof and part of the top floor of a medical facility were damaged. Windows were shattered in 10 nearby residential buildings and a school.
