On the night of January 9, Russians launched 70 Shahed-type attack drones and imitation drones against Ukraine. Aviation of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was involved in repelling Russian air attacks.

Russians launched drones from the directions of the Russian cities of Millerovo, Orel, Kursk, Bryansk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.

Russian air attack was repelled by Ukrainian aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare (EW) units, mobile fire groups of the Air Force, and Ukrainian Defense Forces.

As of 9 a.m. Kyiv time, 46 drones have been confirmed downed in Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Dnipro, and Mykolaiv regions.

In addition, 24 Russian simulator drones were lost locally without any negative consequences.

As a result of the fall of Russian drone debris, private houses were damaged in Kharkiv, Odesa, Sumy, and Cherkasy regions.

Russian air attacks on Ukraine

Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia has been regularly attacking Ukrainian territory with air strikes, which poses a serious threat to civilians. In particular, in recent months, Russian terrorists have been resorting to night attacks almost daily.

For example, on the night of January 8, Russia attacked Ukraine with 64 Shahed attack drones and imitation drones. At the same time, Ukrainian air defense managed to destroy 41 Russian drones.
