On the night of July 28, Russia carried out one of the largest combined air strikes against Ukraine since the start of the full-scale invasion, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.

In total, Russia launched 331 strike units at Ukraine, of which the Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed or suppressed 311 targets.

Russia struck Ukraine with:

  • 324 strike drones, including Shahed and imitation drones, from the directions of Bryansk, Kursk, Orel, Millerovo, Shatalovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk
  • 4 Kh-101 cruise missiles from aircraft in the sky over the Saratov region of Russia
  • 3 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles from the airspace of the Lipetsk region

The main Russian strike was on Starokostiantyniv in the Khmelnytskyi region.

Ukrainian air defense forces were active throughout the country: aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, mobile fire groups, electronic warfare units, and drones were deployed.

As of 9:30 a.m. Kyiv time, Ukrainian air defense forces shot down or suppressed:

  • 309 drones
  • 2 Kh-101 cruise missiles

As a result of the Russian attack, two missiles of different types and 15 drones were recorded hitting three locations.

There are also reports of debris falling in various regions. The Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles did not reach their targets.

Russian attack on Ukraine

Record drone attacks have been recorded in recent weeks, with Russian troops attempting to exhaust Ukrainian air defense forces by attacking simultaneously with hundreds of drones from several directions.

Russian strike on Ukraine on the night of July 28 was one of the most massive. In Kyiv, debris from downed targets damaged residential buildings in the Darnytskyi and Holosiivskyi districts, injuring 8 people, including a 2-year-old child. A fire broke out in one of the buildings.

In Kropyvnytskyi, the philharmonic hall and other infrastructure facilities were damaged.

In addition, two people were wounded in the Dnipropetrovsk region, and a fire broke out at an energy facility. In the Odessa region, Shahed debris fell on the port infrastructure.

During the night of the attack, air raid sirens sounded three times across Ukraine, lasting more than five hours in some regions.
