Russia strikes Ukraine with 196 drones and ballistic missiles overnight

Russia struck Ukraine with ballistic missiles, Banderol missiles, and over 190 drones of various types. Air defense forces neutralized a significant portion of the Russian targets, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
Russia's air strike began as early as 6 p.m. Kyiv time on September 8.
Russia launched:
- Iskander-M ballistic missiles, launched from the temporarily occupied Crimea
- S8000 Banderol missiles from the waters of the Sea of Azov
- 196 attack drones of various types, including Shahed, Gerbera, and Parodiya decoy drones.
Drone launches were detected from the Oryol and Kursk regions in Russia, the temporarily occupied territory of the Donetsk region, and Hvardiiske in occupied Crimea.
Air force, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled the Russian Armed Forces' air attack.
As of 8:30 a.m., Ukrainian air defense forces had neutralized 165 Russian drones, including Shahed, Gerbera, and others.
At the same time, the following were recorded:
- missile and drone strikes at 23 locations
- debris from downed aerial targets falling at four locations.
As of this morning, Russia's attack is ongoing as drones are being detected in Ukrainian airspace.
Russia has launched strikes on six districts in the Kyiv region.
On the morning of September 9, a 24-story building in Kyiv was hit.
The Russian military attacked a checkpoint on the border with Moldova, resulting in casualties.
