Russia strikes Sumy region with missiles: Dead victims and destruction of residential buildings reported

On the morning of September 12, Russian forces launched missile strikes on the village of Bytytsia in the Sumy region. The attack resulted in dead victims, a fire, and the destruction of residential buildings, Head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration Oleh Hryhorov, Head of the City Military Administration Serhii Kryvosheenko, and the Press service of the Sumy Prosecutor’s Office report.
According to the Regional Military Administration, the enemy struck the Bytytsia community of the Sumy hromada. Russians attacked the village, reportedly, with three missiles.
There is destruction and damage in the residential sector. Information on casualties and the scale of the consequences is being clarified.
Head of the City Military Administration Serhii Kryvosheenko specified that the strikes, reportedly from ballistic missiles, hit the residential area of Bytytsia village, where a fire broke out.
“According to the village head, two local residents were killed, five houses were destroyed - the number may rise. The constant threat of shelling complicates recovery work," the report said.
The Sumy Prosecutor’s Office reported that at 06:30 a.m. local time, the enemy struck the residential sector with three missiles.
As a result of the attack, two men were killed, one of them 67 years old, while the identity of the other is still being established. At least five people were injured.
More than 10 households were damaged or destroyed in the shelling.
A pre-trial investigation has been launched under Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - violation of the laws and customs of war that caused civilian deaths.
Prosecutors, in cooperation with law enforcement agencies, are documenting the consequences of the crime.

Attack on Sumy and region
At around 06:00 a.m. local time, several explosions sounded in Sumy. The day before, the military reported the presence of enemy drones in the region.
According to the Regional Military Administration, Russians attacked an industrial zone on the outskirts of Sumy. A fire broke out, damaging vehicles and non-residential buildings.
Later, the reports indicated that a security guard was killed. His body was found under the rubble.
As reported by the Regional Military Administration, after the first strike, the man was still in contact, but after the second Russian hit, communication with him was lost.
