Russia strikes Sumy region with aviation and artillery: Building ablaze, casualties reported
On the morning of February 20, Russian troops attacked Sumy region using artillery and aircraft. Two people were killed, according to the Sumy Regional Military Administration.
"At 5 a.m., the enemy launched an air and artillery strike on the Novoslobidska community of the Konotop district. As a result of the shelling, a fire broke out in a residential building," the statement says.
The fire is currently localized, and the bodies of two victims were found at the scene.
"Debris removal and search operations are ongoing. Information on the consequences of the shelling is being clarified," the Sumy Regional Military Administration adds.
Russian shelling of Sumy region
Russian troops are constantly shelling the Sumy region, especially the border areas bordering Russia. Thus, during a massive attack on Ukraine on January 23, the occupiers struck Shostka, Sumy region. The critical infrastructure of the city came under fire.
The Russian occupiers also shelled the Sumy district on January 10, causing a large-scale fire in the residential sector.
On January 7, the Russian occupiers attacked the town of Krolevets in the Sumy region. The city was hit by Russian Shaheds and a rocket.
