On the morning of December 20, Russian forces struck the Pivdennyi port in Odesa, hitting storage tanks, according to a Telegram statement from Ukraine’s Vice Prime Minister for Reconstruction and Minister for Communities and Territories Development, Oleksii Kuleba.
According to Kuleba, the enemy is deliberately destroying Odesa’s logistical infrastructure and terrorizing civilians in an attempt to disrupt southern Ukraine's transport links. Despite the ongoing attacks, cleanup and recovery efforts continue across the region.
"The shelling has not stopped. After 8 a.m., another attack on Pivdennyi port was recorded — with hits on storage tanks. Medical, rescue, and explosive ordnance teams are working on site, with all necessary emergency crews involved," Kuleba said.
He noted that despite the constant risks, port workers continue operations to maintain uninterrupted maritime logistics.
