Russia strikes Kharkiv downtown, hitting dense residential areas
Russians struck at the central district of Kharkiv. There is a threat of further shelling, according to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov.
Russia struck a dense residential area, causing a fire. Information about the damage and casualties is currently being clarified.
"Be careful - the Russian shelling may continue," the mayor adds.
According to the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleh Syniehubov, emergency services have already arrived at the site of the Russian strike.
The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine warned at 9:40 a.m. about the activity of Russian tactical aircraft in the northeast and the threat of using air strikes on the frontline regions. Later, they also announced the threat of ballistic missile attacks from the east.
Polyclinic building damaged
A polyclinic building was damaged as a result of the Russian shelling. Information about the injured and the damage is still being clarified.

According to Syniehubov, the strike damaged civilian infrastructure. As of now, two people have been treated for acute stress reactions.

Russian shelling of Ukraine on night of August 6
On the night of August 6, Russians attacked Ukraine with:
- 4 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles;
- 2 Kh-59 guided missiles;
- 16 Shahed attack UAVs.
Mobile firing groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, anti-aircraft missile troops, and airborne electronic warfare units were involved in repelling the Russian attack. In total, Ukrainian air defense destroyed 19 air targets, namely:
- 2 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles;
- 2 Kh-59 guided missiles;
- 15 attack UAVs.
The Russian air targets were shot down in Kyiv, Kherson, Mykolaiv, and Khmelnytskyi regions.
