In Manevychi, Volyn region, authorities have issued a warning about a possible accident at one of the town's facilities involving an ammonia leak into the air, according to town mayor Oleksandr Havryliuk.
Residents of Manevychi are asked to remain calm, be vigilant, and follow safety guidelines. This concerns a possible emergency at one of the town's businesses.
Ammonia is a hazardous chemical with a pungent odor. It can irritate the eyes and respiratory tract and can also cause poisoning.
The Regional Military Administration adds that one person died as a result of the Russian attack on the private enterprise Ahrofrukt Ltd.
"Eight others were injured. The fire has been contained but not fully extinguished. Cleanup efforts are ongoing," the statement reads.
On the night of October 16, Russia launched drone strikes on energy facilities in several regions of Ukraine, causing emergency power outages in many areas.
Lutsk was left completely without power, and Kovel was also left without water due to a power outage at the pumping station.
In Lviv, a loud explosion was heard during an air raid alert.
Maksym Kozytskyi, head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, later reported that air defense forces had shot down a Russian drone as it approached the city.
