Russia strikes high-rise building in central Odesa

Russian forces attacked Odesa with drones during the day on August 1. One of the drones hit a high-rise residential building in the city center, according to Oleg Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration.
"The enemy attacked Odesa with attack drones. According to preliminary information, one of the enemy drones hit a high-rise residential building in central Odesa," Kiper said.
Emergency services are working at the scene. Information about casualties and the extent of the damage is being clarified.
Two people are currently known to have been injured in the Russian attack on Odesa.
The victims are a 28-year-old man and an 18-year-old man. Both were hospitalized with thermal burns and are receiving all necessary medical care.
An emergency response center has been set up at the scene. All relevant services are working there.
August 1 attack on Ukraine
As a reminder, Russia attacked Ukraine with 35 missiles and 185 attack drones overnight on August 1. Air defenses managed to shoot down just one of the 27 ballistic missiles.
The Kyiv region was the main target. Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, Kharkiv and Poltava regions were also attacked.
Russian forces launched a massive ballistic missile attack on Kyiv. Damage and fires were reported in five districts of the capital — Solomianskyi, Darnytskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, Dniprovskyi and Pecherskyi.
The attack killed nine people and injured 30 others, including four children.
