The Russian army launched a missile strike during the day on Wednesday, June 4, targeting the territory of one of the training units of the Ground Forces in Poltava region, according to a statement from the Ground Forces.

"Thanks to timely and carefully planned safety measures designed to protect the lives and health of service members under the constant threat of missile and air attacks by the aggressor on rear areas, the worst was avoided," the statement said.

Due to dispersion, the use of shelters, and adherence to protocols during the air raid alert, the lives of the soldiers undergoing training at the range were preserved.

"Unfortunately, there are wounded. All those injured are promptly receiving the necessary qualified medical care at specialized medical facilities. Doctors are doing everything possible to ensure their speedy recovery," the Ground Forces reported.

A special commission has been established to thoroughly investigate the circumstances of the incident and assess the damage caused. The results of the investigation will be made public upon the commission’s completion of its work.

"This incident once again highlights the importance of constant vigilance, strict adherence to safety rules, and readiness for any scenarios amid the ongoing Russian aggression," the military emphasized.
