An increase in the intensity of Russian attacks is being recorded in the southern direction. However, Ukrainian troops are holding the situation and, in some areas, regaining control of positions, said Southern Defense Forces spokesperson Vladyslav Voloshyn.

According to him, Russian forces are increasing the number of combat engagements, attacks, as well as drone and air strikes. In particular, 26 airstrikes were recorded over the past day.

The highest enemy activity, as the spokesperson clarified, is observed in the Huliaipole and Oleksandrivka directions. Almost all settlements near the frontline are coming under strikes. In particular, Komyshuvakha in the Zaporizhzhia region was subjected to a massive airstrike.

"The situation is quite difficult, but the Defense Forces of Ukraine are acting quite confidently in some sections of the front, and we are regaining control of certain positions. Therefore, it cannot be said that the enemy has any success in the south, because we are hitting them," said Vladyslav Voloshyn.

Situation in the south

Last month, Russian troops intensified offensive actions in certain sections of the front.

The intensity of attacks increased, especially in the Zaporizhzhia direction — in some places it exceeded the indicators of one of the most tense sections of the front in the Pokrovsk area.

According to Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi, Ukrainian forces in the south are gradually advancing and fighting to liberate settlements.

The Defense Forces of Ukraine, thanks to counterattacks and assault actions, were able to stop the advance of Russian troops in the south and reduce the so-called gray zone.
