Russian forces have been conducting airstrikes on Zaporizhzhia for three consecutive days. Modernized guided aerial bombs are specifically targeting bridge crossings, according to a statement by Mykhailo Semikin, Acting Head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration.

Russia changes tactics regarding Zaporizhzhia

Recently, Russian aviation has been reaching Zaporizhzhia, with the enemy striking bridges using GABs and drones. This is linked to a change in tactics and the modernization of Russian aerial bombs, says Semikin.

According to the official, Zaporizhzhia has suffered from combined strikes on bridge crossings for three days in a row. Protecting such facilities requires additional provision of air defense systems.

"This is work involving guided aerial bombs. Today we have confirmation of countermeasures against guided aerial bombs - missiles. However, the enemy’s supply of guided aerial bombs is unlimited, while our number of interception systems has certain limitations," said Semikin.

The enemy is changing its tactics, he noted, specifically the launch direction of guided aerial bombs to bypass electronic warfare (EW) systems.

"Furthermore, they are installing additional systems on guided aerial bombs - rocket engines that increase flight range and speed," the official clarified.

In his opinion, this is a war of technologies. Ukraine needs some time to adapt and counter these threats.

On October 7, Russian forces attacked a transport infrastructure facility in Zaporizhzhia.

Additionally, on the morning of October 6, Russian units attacked a bridge over the Dnipro River in Zaporizhzhia. Traffic was temporarily suspended, and the number of injured rose to five people.
