Russia seeks to plunge Ukraine into internet blackout

Russia is carrying out a campaign targeting Ukrainian data centers and communications infrastructure in an effort to deprive citizens of access to the internet and digital services, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says.
According to the head of state, the Russian Federation is deliberately trying to destroy Ukraine's digital infrastructure, but its services and businesses are already taking prompt measures to counter the threat.
"The Russians have a simple goal: to leave Ukrainians without the internet, to leave us without communications, without the relevant digital services. We are acting swiftly to counter this," Zelenskyy emphasized.
As reported, in recent days, Russian forces have intensified targeted strikes on digital infrastructure and communications facilities in Kyiv.
In particular, on the morning of September 26, a series of Russian strikes caused extensive damage to the Cosmonova data center. As a result, the facility sustained severe damage and completely ceased operations.
The strikes on data centers caused systemic technical problems—several TV channels in Ukraine were disrupted, and internet providers experienced outages.
At the same time, experts emphasize that Russia will not be able to completely cut Ukraine off from communications.
Presidential adviser Serhii "Flash" Beskrestnov noted that Ukraine will not be left without internet access thanks to highly distributed communications channels, despite Russia's ongoing attacks on information infrastructure.
