Russia scandalously dismisses commander of South military unit
Russian Colonel-General Gennadiy Anashkin was dismissed from his post as commander of the “South” military unit. He is accused of concealing the situation at the front, reports Mash.
Today, on November 23, Russian media outlets announced the dismissal of Colonel General Gennadiy Anashkin. The so-called Russian military correspondents also spread this information. Russia does not officially release information about Anashkin's resignation.
Russians in the network note that Anashkin was allegedly suspected of concealing the real state of affairs in the Siversk direction.
“The general did not inform the higher command of the true state of affairs, concealed the real situation - the units of the ‘South’ military group are also fighting near Siversk,” the Russians write.
In early November, videos were circulated on social media showing columns of Russian equipment on the offensive in the Siversk sector suffering heavy losses.
Colonel General Gennadiy Anashkin was the commander of the Russian military formation in Nagorno-Karabakh from September 2021 to January 2022. On May 15 this year, he became the interim commander of the troops of the Southern Military District of the Russian Federation.
Military commandment changes in Russia
This year, Russian leader Vladimir Putin changed the Minister of Defense. Andrey Belousov was appointed to the post of the Defense Ministry. His predecessor, Sergei Shoigu, was appointed Secretary of the Russian Security Council.
Earlier, Russia also detained Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov on suspicion of corruption. The media speculated that he might be charged with treason.
After that, Moscow sent another former Shoigu's deputy to a pre-trial detention center for alleged corruption.
