Russia has "never refused" to discuss "proposals and ideas" regarding the war in Ukraine and remains open to doing so. However, Moscow has a condition for Washington, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said.

She claimed that Russia is "ready to consider" new ideas and proposals concerning Ukraine.

"We reaffirm our readiness for possible discussions, proposals, and ideas that we are ready to consider. No one has ever refused this," she said.

According to her, Washington must "provide clarity" on the Anchorage agreements before putting forward any new ideas.

"Before discussing anything new, something not yet voiced or formulated, it would probably be right to clarify the previous issues, in particular, those discussions of the relevant ideas that have already taken place," Zakharova noted.

As a reminder, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that in August 2025, American President Donald Trump and the Russian leader discussed Russia's proposals for settling the war in Ukraine.

According to him, it was Kyiv that rejected the approach pushed by Moscow.

On July 23, Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a meeting during which they discussed, among other issues, the war in Ukraine.
