Russia's war losses in Ukraine 5 times greater than over 10 years in Afghanistan - U.S. Vice President
Losses of the Russian military in the war against Ukraine are more than five times greater than those over 10 years in Afghanistan, according to Vice President of the United States Kamala Harris at the annual Munich Security Conference, reports RBC-Ukraine correspondent.
"Russia has suffered over 300,000 casualties. Remember, that's more than 5 times what it lost in 10 years in Afghanistan," Harris said.
The U.S. Vice President added that now the aggressor country started sending conscripts to the frontlines after only 2 weeks of training.
Russian losses in the war
According to data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces, as of February 15, Ukrainian soldiers eliminated another 1,210 occupiers. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has lost 400,300 military personnel.
As reported by the commander of the Tavria operational-strategic grouping of troops Oleksandr Tarnavskyi, the enemy's losses amounted to 711 personnel in the Tavria direction, over the past day. Ukrainian defenders also destroyed 52 units of Russian equipment.
