The strategic goal of Russia remains unchanged — it seeks to destroy Ukrainian statehood, says deputy chief of Ukraine's Defense Intelligence (HUR), Vadym Skibitskyi, at the RBC-Ukraine forum Energy that keeps Ukraine running.
“This is the first, and then it goes, as they say, by levels. At present, yes, indeed, the emphasis is mainly concentrated on certain regions, but everything will depend, further steps will depend on the success achieved,” he said.
Skibitskyi added that the aggressor country’s strategic goal is unattainable, yet it does not stop because of that.
“If we talk about the effectiveness of Russian weapons, then, first of all, we see how much improvement has taken place, including in cruise missiles, such as the Kh-101. New elements have appeared, new elements of the guidance system, new elements of the navigation system, and other issues related specifically to strike accuracy,” he said.
The deputy head of HUR noted that intelligence has certain Russian documents. They indicate that, despite the fact that the Russians are trying to improve, they are still far from the technical characteristics they claim.
“In what the increased effect of the strikes now lies — it is the mass use, first and foremost, of unmanned aerial vehicles. If earlier, at the beginning, for example, it was 30 Shaheds in one month, now 30 Shaheds can fly at a single target,” Skibitskyi explained.
He noted that a certain percentage of enemy drones still achieve results.Besides, he said, combined strikes impact effectiveness.
“Combined strikes include both cruise missiles and ballistic missiles, and, accordingly, unmanned aerial vehicles. And we see the results — we see the results, in particular, in Kyiv, when a Shahed hits first, then a ballistic missile hits, then the strike is repeated to inflict the greatest damage and achieve an individual effect on the target,” the HUR representative said.
The Kremlin stated that Russia would not stop hostilities on the territory of Ukraine, as proposed by US President Donald Trump.
After he met with Zelenskyy, the US leader called on Ukraine and Russia to stop where each side is now, along the front line.
