The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has revealed the location of the Russian station "Luna-25" crashed on the Moon. Another small crater has appeared on the Moon's surface, according to NASA's press service.

According to NASA, the NASA LRO spacecraft captured an image of the new crater on the Moon's surface, which is likely the result of the crash of the Russian station "Luna-25."

The latest image was taken in June 2022; at that time, the crater was not present. However, it appeared near the predicted landing site of "Luna-25" the following year.

The crater, approximately 10 meters in diameter, has emerged on the inner rim of the Pontecoulant G crater, located about 400 km from the predicted landing site of the station.

Recent Russian attempt to land on the Moon

Recently, the first-ever Russian mission to the Moon failed.

The lunar mission was launched on August 11, with the landing of "Luna-25" on the Moon's South Pole scheduled for August 21. However, on August 20, "Roscosmos" announced that the interplanetary automatic station "Luna-25" crashed upon impact with the lunar surface.
