Frontline situation
Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck Russia’s Nebo-U long-range radar station near the village of Magri in Krasnodar Krai overnight on October 16. Ukraine’s General Staff reported that the station is designed to detect and track aircraft, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles, making it an important part of Russia’s aerial surveillance and early-warning system.
Meanwhile, Russian attacks hit several Ukrainian regions on October 16, killing two people in Kharkiv, where drone strikes also left part of the city without electricity. In Sumy, a Russian drone struck a downtown shopping center, injuring two people, while authorities in Manevychi, Volyn region, warned residents of a possible ammonia leak at a local facility following an emergency warning.
