Overnight, Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the Russian long-range radar station Nebo-U in the Krasnodar Krai, which detects aircraft and missiles, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the 55Zh6U Nebo-U station on the night of October 16, 2026, near the village of Magri in Russia's Krasnodar Krai.
According to Ukraine's General Staff, Nebo-U is a long-range radar station. It detects and tracks aerial targets, including aircraft, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine explains that destroying such systems reduces Russia's ability to control airspace and detect targets promptly. The station's estimated value is approximately $100 million.
"Operations against key Russian military facilities are ongoing," Ukraine's General Staff adds.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the Russian Su-34 bombers struck by Neptune at the Borisoglebsk airfield were preparing for new strikes against Ukraine.
He added that Russia was dragging out the war, so Ukraine's long-range operations would continue.
In an interview with the Financial Times, Zelenskyy stated that the ban on strikes against Russian oil refineries had been lifted.
According to him, Ukraine refrained from striking Russian energy infrastructure for three days at Washington's request, while Russia continued to attack Ukrainian energy facilities during that time.
