Frontline situation

Russia is exploiting Ukraine’s inability to hold elections during wartime to influence peace negotiations and prolong the war, ISW analysts say. They argue that Moscow could enable elections by agreeing to a ceasefire.

At the same time, Russian forces struck Naftogaz’s gas production infrastructure in the Kharkiv region with a missile-equipped drone on October 12, damaging critical equipment and sparking a fire. Employees took shelter, and no injuries were reported.
