Russia's losses in Ukraine as of October 17: + 1400 soldiers and 17 tanks
In the past 24 hours, from October 16 to 17, Russian forces have lost over 1,400 soldiers, 17 tanks, and a multiple-launch rocket system on the front lines, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
From February 24, 2022, to October 17, 2024, the estimated total combat losses of the enemy are as follows:
- personnel - around 674 270 (+1420) eliminated;
- tanks - 9014 (+17) units;
- troop-carrying AFVs - 18 002 (+33) units;
- artillery systems - 19 510 (+51) units;
- MLRS (Multiple launch rocket systems) - 1232 (+1) units;
- anti-aircraft systems - 978 units;
- aircraft - 369 units;
- helicopters - 329 units;
- UAVs operational-tactical level - 17 104 (+54) units;
- cruise missiles - 2,620 units;
- warships/boats - 28 units;
- submarines - 1 unit;
- vehicles and fuel tanks - 26 815 (+83) units;
- special equipment - 3446 (+5) units.
Frontline situation and airstrikes
According to ISW, the confrontation between Russia and the Armed Forces of Ukraine has deteriorated in the Kursk region due to weather conditions. Meanwhile, Russian forces are advancing in the Donetsk region and near Kreminna in the Luhansk region.
During the night, Russia once again attacked Ukraine using Shahed-type drones. Alarms were declared in many regions of the country, and air defense forces were activated.
Recently, new long-range Ukrainian drones struck a depot containing Iranian missiles on Russian territory.
