The Ukrainian Defense Forces eliminated another 1,260 Russian soldiers in the past 24 hours, bringing the total losses of the enemy in personnel to over 958,000 soldiers, according to data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The total combat Russian losses from February 24, 2022, to May 5, 2025, are estimated to be:

  • personnel - about 958,070 (+1,260) Russian troops were eliminated;
  • tanks - 10,763 (+5);
  • troop-carrying AFVs - 22,411 (+8);
  • artillery systems - 27,370 (+43);
  • MLRS - 1,377 (+1);
  • anti-aircraft systems - 1,155;
  • aircraft - 372;
  • helicopters - 335 units;
  • UAV operational-tactical level - 34,977 (+137);
  • cruise missiles - 3,196;
  • warships/boats - 28;
  • submarines - 1;
  • vehicles and fuel tanks - 47,250 (+109);
  • special equipment - 3,870.

In the evening report of May 4, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine informed that there had been 201 combat encounters on the front lines since the beginning of the day.

According to the Ukrainian Defense Forces, the directions with the highest number of enemy assaults and attacks remain Pokrovsk and Novopavlivka, as was the case the day before.

Additionally, in the May 5 report from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), which outlines the operational situation in Ukraine and Russia, it was mentioned that Ukrainian defenders had recently advanced near Toretsk. Meanwhile, there was also noted progress in this direction - Toretsk - by the Russian forces, and the enemy is exerting pressure near Kupiansk.
