During the night attack on January 20, Russian forces likely used RM-48U training missiles against Ukraine for the first time. According to Western media estimates, these may have been launched as decoys to overload and exhaust Ukraine’s air defense system.

As of the evening of January 22, the situation along the frontlines remained tense: active combat continued in most directions, and the enemy extensively employed aviation, drones, and artillery. Nevertheless, Ukrainian forces held their positions and thwarted attempts to advance.
