Russia's losses in Ukraine as of January 1: +1,060 troops and 769 drones

On New Year's night, from December 31 to January 1, Russian forces lost an additional 1,060 soldiers on the front lines. The Armed Forces of Ukraine also destroyed 36 artillery systems, 171 vehicles, and 769 drones, reports the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The total combat Russian losses from February 24, 2022, to January 1, 2026, are estimated to be:
- Personnel - approximately 1,208,970 (+1,060).
- Tanks - 11,488 (+7)
- Troop-carrying AFVs - 23,849 (+4)
- Artillery systems - 35,678 (+36)
- MLRS - 1,587 (+1)
- Anti-aircraft systems - 1,266

Situation on the front lines and Russian losses
As of the evening of December 31, 120 combat engagements were recorded on the front lines. The Pokrovsk direction was the hottest, as it had been in previous weeks and months. There, the enemy attempted to break through the defenses 27 times.
On December 31, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that in 2025, Ukrainian soldiers neutralized nearly 420,000 Russian soldiers.
