During the day from January 28 to 29, Russian troops lost 1,670 soldiers, a multiple-launch rocket system, and 10 tanks in battles with the Ukrainian Defense Forces at the front, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The total combat Russian losses from February 24, 2022, to January 29, 2025, are estimated to be:

  • personnel - about 834,670 (+1670) Russian troops were eliminated;
  • tanks - 9,886 (+10);
  • armored combat vehicles - 20,597 (+24);
  • artillery systems - 22,395 (+29);
  • MLRS - 1,264 (+1);
  • anti-aircraft warfare systems - 1,050;
  • aircraft - 369;
  • helicopters - 331;
  • UAV operational-tactical level - 23,456 (+57);
  • cruise missiles - 3,054 (+1);
  • warships/boats - 28;
  • submarines - 1;
  • vehicles and fuel tankers - 35,366 (+97);
  • special equipment - 3,721 (+3).

Situation at front and Russian attacks on Ukraine

According to the maps of the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), the Ukrainian Defense Forces were successful near Toretsk and Pokrovsk. However, the DPRK military may stop participating in assaults in the Kursk region.

During the night, Russian troops again massively attacked Ukraine with Shahed kamikaze drones.

In the morning, a powerful explosion occurred in Kyiv. The wreckage of a Russian drone fell on the territory of the Darnytsia depot.
