Between February 8 and 9, the Russian army lost 1,460 soldiers, an aircraft, and 127 vehicles in its war against Ukraine, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The total combat Russian losses from February 24, 2022, to February 9, 2025, are estimated to be:

  • personnel - about 849,320 (+1,460) Russian troops were eliminated;
  • tanks - 9,992 (+11);
  • armored personnel vehicles - 20,797 (+20).
  • artillery systems - 22,844 (+24);
  • MLRS - 1,273;
  • anti-aircraft warfare systems - 1056;
  • aircraft - 370 (+1);
  • helicopters - 331;
  • UAV operational-tactical level - 24,486 (+83);
  • cruise missiles - 3,054;
  • warships/boats - 28;
  • submarines - 1;
  • vehicles and fuel tanks - 36,529 (+127);
  • special equipment - 3,739 (+1).

Situation on the front lines and Russia’s drone attack

According to the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Ukrainian defense forces have made gains near Chasiv Yar, though Russian troops continue to press forward on three fronts.

In Donetsk region, Ukrainian defenders from the 28th Mechanized Brigade shot down a Russian Su-25 attack aircraft.

Overnight, Russian forces launched a large-scale attack on Ukraine using Shahed kamikaze drones.

Explosions were heard multiple times in Lutsk due to air defense operations.
